Cake Smash Photoshoot
Around six months ago we met Layla for her sitter photography session and now we are back to see her on her first birthday for her Cake Smash Photography Session. We already knew that Layla and her mummy liked red and pink from her Sitter Session so had to plan a red and pink colour scheme which obviously for a Cake Smash is absolutely fine by us.
After loading the car with backdrops, lights, cake, bunting and all things pink, we set off for Banbury. Soon after we arrived and of course Layla didn’t recognise us but it almost felt like she did. She was very excited to meet us and to see everything that we had planned for her session. We were very excited to see her again because we already knew how cute she was and so we knew it was going to be a great photoshoot. 1st Birthday Photography Photoshoots are all about having fun and capturing those cute smiles and giggles.
We started the session with a Christmas themed set up as it was that time of year and we thought it would be a good way to ease her into the session without too much excitement. She immediately reminded us what a natural poser she is and we captured some great images.
Then we moved on to the O N E letters which had Layla running around and playing with them. Again we got some brilliant shots of her picking up and rearranging the letters and generally having a fun and slightly destructive time. A perfect build up to what was about to come….
Now the real fun begins: smashing that cake! Sometimes kids are a bit shy and do what they have been taught by their parents to do ie. NOT smash the cake, but once they realised that the cake is all theirs then the mess begins. They get stuck in covering their faces with icing and even using tools like a massive wooden spoon to aid the destruction.
Layla went a step further. Being a modern multitasking young lady she was able to dance to mummy’s tunes, play on her smartphone and smash cake all at once. A busy girl.
We loved the session. It was so nice to see Layla and her mum again and we are definitely looking forward to a family photography session soon to get her dad and brother on camera too. If you think about how much we enjoy seeing these children and families grow, then you realise how important the images that we are preserving are for the parents.
We hope you have enjoyed reading about what we do for a living. Feel free to comment, like and share.
