The Glamour of a Maternity Photography Session
Babies make their arrival into this world when they are good and ready. So it is not always possible to predict precisely. Therefore we only book three newborn photo shoots per week so that we have the room to juggle dates as required if babies arrive early or late. In order to fill the rest of our time we like to do other sessions in between and for a long time we had been wanting to do a maternity session to introduce the magic of photographing a beautiful bump.
Our first pregnancy photo shoot….
Laura is a mother of 2 children, a boy and a girl, who on neither pregnancy had the chance of getting those lovely pregnancy photographs of her beautiful baby bump. So, in case this was to be her third and last pregnancy, it was a must for her to get the photographs done.
Because this was her first maternity session she was a little bit nervous. We normally send out a guide before the day of the photo shoot letting mummy know what to expect and advising them about making themselves glamorous for their special maternity photo session day.
On the day before Laura’s maternity session we received an email saying: ‘Dear Pamila. I don’t have an appropriate bra and I don’t usually wear makeup. Is that going to be a problem?’ To which I instantly reply saying ‘Of course not. I’m sure you look beautiful as you are’. To which she replied ‘Perfect! I was starting to get worried.’ We work with mummy’s-to-be and it’s so important that they are happy and relaxed with us in order to get those beautiful bump photos.
At that point I worried a bit that she wouldn’t make the most of our special time together or that she wouldn’t enjoy herself fully. As you know, we bring our studio to your home. So we pack up our things and head off. Arriving at her house the next day, I was very pleased to meet Laura. She was so nice and had one of the most perfectly curved and shiny bumps. At this point Ian stays downstairs setting up his equipment (backdrops, stands, lights etc) and enjoys a nice cup of tea and the company of Laura’s husband Daniel. The boys get chatting about technical computer stuff whilst myself and Laura head upstairs with various dresses, gowns, accessories and makeup. (I always take everything with me just in case). So we had a really good giggle together as she got dressed and with no pressure she was really happy for me to do her makeup for her. She also put on some accessories and let her beautiful hair down (physically and metaphorically).
Laura was brilliant at her maternity photoshoot. She very quickly relaxed and got into the swing of things. She was having a really great time - even dancing in front of the camera. She looked so lovely and happy to be looking so glamorous and being made to feel so special. Her husband even commented that he didn’t recognise that person - she was so beautiful and had a radiant glow about her.
We normally offer a private online gallery for clients to choose their images from the selection that we have edited but Laura really surprised me. She told me that she had such an enjoyable experience that she wanted to purchase all the images no matter what the cost. Even better than that, she immediately booked her newborn session online. Our thanks to you Laura. You are amazing and we are looking forward to meeting your new little girl.
We hope you have enjoyed reading about what we do for a living. Feel free to comment, like and share.
